Reviews about Halfords Autocentre
- ★ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆2017-04-30, by epicdodgaTook my car to get an M.O.T today and as I type this I’m walking to go collect it I will update as it’s recieved. In retrospect, I was charged £633.45 for this, just to replace all 4 tyres, which were fine a month ago when I had it checked prior to the mot to see how much I’d have to get fixed. A front right Suspenion arm which I had been charged £99 for and looking online it was £25. And a front right tyre brake pad being charged £210 and again after looking online it was only under £100 cheaper. Considering I was charged nearly £600 for the fixes, and had literally no other choice but to pay it otherwise I’d be carless, I went ahead and paid. Stupidly even though I knew if I went somewhere else I was bound to get it for much much cheaper, I had to get my car on the road before I started my new job the next day. Upon recieving the car, visually nothing has changed. You can barely even realise the tyres are new as they look the exact same as the older ones, and due to being told a month ago my car was pretty much a certain pass I never expected all these fees and problems, considering what I’d been told before. At both my previous mots with this car, I had never once had any recommendations for the next. Despite being sat outside my house and not started for a year, before I could even drive, all that needed replacing them was a windscreen wiper, not half the fu*^%ng car.. will definitely be looking for somewhere else in Plymouth to get my mot done next time because quite frankly the price is a complete joke. The only good thing they could offer was a payment plan to spread the cost over 4 months, because I physically didn’t have the money to pay he fees. And on recieving the car back, after I’d asked them to check it, my fan system in the car (that blows the air in and around the car), does not work. On a plus note, the new tyres are lovely and my brakes no longer squeaky, about the only good thing that comes out of this. And a fair few advisory’s to get fixed for next time, more than I’ve ever had before. Put it this way, if you want it done properly and for a decent price, go somewhere else. Halfords are really REALLY expensive, not necessarily 100% of the car has been checked because my rear wiper doesn’t work either, so not as thorough as I would have liked. Other than that, I will try and forget about the money I’ve paid and be happy with the service.
